The app saves “cards” to your device for every command you give, even the ones you give repeatedly, and it’s a lot of effort to update or delete those cards. This is how Alexa *learns* and if you delete them it forgets. It also seems to save them in two places - one on the Home screen and one in the settings. There is no bulk edit and it’s a pain in the *** to deal with them. I also don’t have much space on my device and resent the time effort I have to give to these *cards*. Why aren’t they saved on Alexa and viewed by your device when editing? If multiple devices are connected to Alexa does each device get a copy of every command? The *cards* are very frustrating.
The app is not intuitive and is limited in functionality. If I start a list with Alexa there doesn’t seem to be a way to add to the list when I’m in the car and I’ve thought of more items. It seems like I can only delete items on the list.
It effects the functionality of my Hue lights. I have three Hue lights, one is on a timer on the HUE app to turn on a set time and another timer to turn it off. Since getting Alexa, the light still turns on but doesn’t turn off anymore even though the Hue timer is active and correctly set. There doesn’t seem to be a way to set a repeating timer on the Alexa app for this. I’d like to add a few more lights but if Alexa can’t handle it there’s no point.
Also, two of the Hue lights can change color but that is meaningless to Alexa.Unless there a command structure I haven’t tried Alexa can turn things on or off or dim. I can’t say “turn the kitchen spotlight to green”.
Recap: the app needs to function better and not interfere with the functionality of other apps. The *cards* need a bulk edit for yes/no/delete. They need to be saved in one place only and Alexa needs to store them, not on my device.
