Amazon Alexa App Reviews

Make it better

No need to add skills like Siri. App should have control even when not home.

Needs Work Guys.

I dont know why but Amazon has a horrible time creating apps that work. The platform is ugly. It times out repeatedly. It doesnt have enough options that work directly with Alexa. Its an all-around hideous operation and should be removed and worked on instead of distributed to the masses.

Great product, horrible app

Amazon can and must do better with the app. probably one of the most unrefined app in iTunes. Interface- unfriendly, visuals- non existent, App Setup- tedious, with multiple layers. Sure its a voice product, but if you have to support with an app, do a decent job.

Terrible

I bought the echo after reading all the hype. Im afraid this app just isnt there yet. It wont understand 80% of what you tell it to do. It keeps telling you to install skills that are already installed. Overall the echo is gimmicky and useless.

App is very basic

The Alexa app is very basic and doesnt show even half of what the echo and tap products can do. As others have mentioned, using it is frustrating. "Play jazz from Prime" and "Play the news" are not my idea of power user features. Support is non-existent, as far as I can tell. I sent two requests for assistance through the app and havent gotten a response yet, several days later. It seems at this early stage that, while Amazon would like you to learn their very strict format for valid Alexa queries, they arent interested in learning to adapt to the way that people actually want to use Alexa to its fullest. Edit: When playing "News Flash," it is not possible to see Now Playing info in order to adjust the volume. This is Just Dumb!

Echo is awesome, app stinks, the skills are all made by 4 year olds

Really!? These skills are dumb, very few worth using, if this is the best skills yall can come up with, dont even bother, everyone who thinks they can make a skill does, and it shows. How about some usefull texting apps or something we can use, im sure this is not what amazon was thinking when they handed the keys to developers. Other than that the echo itself has become my favorite household gadget

Echo is great, the app is not.

I love my echo but this app needs a ton of work. Discovering quality skills is almost impossible and all of the features in the app seem like tacked on after thoughts. I wish the app was as polished as the Echo.

Lists need work

Overall I must admit Alexa has surprised me with her abilities. However, the main function that sold me was the shopping list. I have used the Clear app for list making for years, but with the app on my phone I was the only one who could make additions. With 2 full time working parents and 4 busy gulden in our household, things often fall through the cracks. Running out of peanut butter just isnt acceptable, but often Ill return home from the grocery store without realizing we had run out. With Alexa, the kids would all be able to add things to the list on their own. HOWEVER, one feature I had become accustomed to on Clear that Alexa doesnt offer is the ability to change the order of items on the list. I always make my list then go back and drag/drop list items into the order of the grocery store, produce first, then meats, cereal, etc. Alexa wont let me do that. I hope she does some day, since a randomly ordered list makes grocery shopping even more of an annoyance. Help Alexa!

Not working to good

When I try to connect to a wifi network it says I have to go to a third party site, but it comes up as an error

Needs work

1. Need to have a way to quickly browse thru Artists. Maybe like the contacts? 2. Update really is buggy and slow 3. There should be a way to Favorite Artist and/or station 4. Install skills should be on top or diff tab. 5. WTH were they thinking with the font under Alarms?! 6. What is Queue for? Even with stations its always empty?

2 stars because it works

Echo is a great product, this app not so much. Dated and ugly UI. Please read the Apple iOS HIG. Please use any modern app. Takes notes. Apply those concepts. Rework the UX and UI. Give iOS engineers design. Implement. Thanks!

Alexa is awesome—app not so much

I love my Amazon Echo, but the iOS app is horrible. The whole interface feels very quirky, and not very user friendly. Whenever I open the app I get a message saying app is offline, and I have to kill the app in the background and re-launch it in order to use it.

Great app

Thank you for giving me easy access to so much and the ability to automate so many things that werent possible before. Using IFTTT recipe: Adding something to Alexa shopping list to add to iOS Reminders doesnt work if that item already exists and is marked completed in iOS Reminders. Not sure where the issue is breaking down. Have reached out to IFTTT as well.

Now app wont even open.

Another update, another frozen login page. Amazon must just hate Apple users! ------------ Old review: The app is STILL a DUD!!! Do they even test the app before they foist it on their customers? Like most other reviewers I cant login now. The login page is frozen. What an amateur app! Amazon is supposed to be better than this!

Love it

Overall I am very happy with this app - especially the shopping list. A couple of tweaks could make it even better. The option to edit an item in the shopping list would be great as would the ability to rearrange items within the list.

New update is broken

Lastest update isnt working. Wont even let me delete and reinstall. Normally not a bad app.

Garbage

The Echo itself is great. This app is total garbage. Most functions dont work and I never get any feedback on whether a change worked. I cant even set my zip code. They need a QA team

Bezos isnt home!

Its bad enough that the Amazon Echo cant even change a radio station via voice commands. Now the only other means of doing so.....this app, doesnt work either!

Wont open or delete

Since the update this app has looked like it updating for a week. It will not open and will not allow me to delete it.

This is the best Amazon can do?

A very clunky app. Looking for new skills should be fun; unfortunately, it is really hampered by the lack of an intuitive interface. There is also an notably absent list of skills already downloaded (I have to take a screenshot and then add it to a dedicated "skills" photo album... not exactly efficient). This app needs a serious overhaul.
